The Slants
The Slants
Portland’s The Slants are the first and only all-Asian American dance rock band in the world. They offer up catchy dance beats, strong hooks, and a bombastic live show that is “not to be missed” (The Westword). The Willamette Week says “While the band may well be best experienced live, Slants releases always promise a few blistering, note-perfect singles.” The music is the perfect combination of 80’s driven synth pop with hard-hitting indie, floor-filling beats which fans affectionately dub as “Chinatown Dance Rock.”

In addition to the music, the band is actively involved with helping marginalized communities, leading discussions on race and identity, and raising awareness of social justice issues.

They’ve been featured on Conan O’Brien’s Team Coco, BBC, NPR, NBC, IFC TV, Huffington Post, MTV, TEDx, and over 1,500 radio stations, tv shows, magazines, and websites across 82 countries.

20 international tours, including appearances in 48 of 50 U.S states, have led to headlining showcases at major festivals such as SXSW, MusicfestNW, San Diego Comic-Con, and Dragon Con.
The band has also provided support for The Decemberists, Mindless Self Indulgence, Girl Talk, Apl.De.Ap (of Black Eyed Peas), Blindpilot and Shonen Knife. In 2011, The Slants worked with the Department of Defense for a series of shows at U.S and NATO bases in Eastern Europe, dubbed “Operation Gratitude.”
The Georgetown All-Stars
The Georgetown All-Stars
Get down, get down, we play that funky music white boy. We also like NAS, Joe Strummer, Michael & Janet Jackson.
pigWar
pigWar
pigWar is pure psychedelic soul.

Named after the bloodless war of 1859 in the San Juan Islands, their live shows are explosive with all-original tunes that pull from the obscure corners of Teddy Pendergrass, Led Zeppelin, The Faces, Lee Scratch Perry, Dilla, and Parliament Funkadelic. Paying homage to old soul music with a modern coat of paint consisting of dusty synthesizers and angular horn lines.
Fruit Juice
Fruit Juice
"This psychedelic pop band reminiscent of early-early Pink Floyd would aid any acid or mushroom trip. They're a combination of joy, mirage and youth. What's most interesting about this band is that even though their vibe, sound and groove are a bit out there, they get the crowd to dance (even the sober ones!). Plus, Fruit Juice is one of the bands that looks like they're always having fun together, like their set could be in front of a packed house or in one of the band member's basements, it wouldn't matter. Good thing for us, they hit up Seattle on a frequent basis." -Jacob Uitti
Jafé & The Royals
Jafé & The Royals
Fronted by NYC underground veteran singer-songwriter/guitarist/producer Jafé Paulino, The Royals are a unique blend of music best described as Psychodelic Afro-Rock. With its other members also fronting their own bands, the band has been building quite the buzz for having only come together in November 2016. Featuring Jett Carter on drums, Daddi Longlegz on bass, Danny Rose on keyboard/synth, and sister Kaila Paulino on backing vocals and percussion, The Royals come together to promote inclusion, empowerment, and love through each one of their shows. "Our mission is to spread love culture and show people that vulnerability and emotional awareness are forms of rebellion against the norms of society," says Jafé. "We're just here to remind everyone that we are The Royals, and so are you."
